Goalkeeper Training
at The Grove
Built for the ones between the pipes.
Goalkeeper is one of the toughest positions on the field. Goalies are expected to be brave, focused, vocal, athletic, technical, and calm under pressure — all while knowing that one small mistake can feel bigger than every great save they made before it.
At The Grove, our Goalkeeper Training program is designed to give young keepers the focused attention they rarely receive in regular team practices.
This is not just about diving around and stopping shots. This is about building confident, athletic, well-rounded goalkeepers who understand their position, trust their movement, and are comfortable being part of the game with both their hands and their feet.
Led by Real Goalkeeper Experience
Goalkeeper Training at The Grove is led by Mark Hamilton, founder of The Grove Athletics and a former collegiate-level goalkeeper.
Mark played high-level soccer at Sheridan Institute of Technology, where he earned recognition as the Men's Soccer West Region League Top Goalkeeper and was also named Men's Outdoor Soccer MVP during the 2007–2008 season.
But beyond the awards, Mark understands the pressure, resilience, and confidence required to play between the pipes. He knows what it feels like to be the last line of defence, and he knows how important it is for young goalkeepers to feel supported, prepared, and confident.
This program was created to give young goalkeepers the focused development they rarely receive in regular team training.

The Modern Goalkeeper
The game has changed.
Goalkeepers are no longer just standing on the line waiting to make saves. Today's goalkeeper needs to be comfortable with the ball at their feet, able to support teammates, make decisions under pressure, and help build play from the back.
That is why our training includes more than just hands and diving.
We also focus on movement, athleticism, footwork, distribution, communication, and confidence on the ball.
A strong goalkeeper does not just stop goals. A strong goalkeeper helps control the game.
Program Structure
Goalkeeper Training is offered in a small-group format to create a better learning environment, more energy, and peer support between athletes. Small groups allow goalkeepers to compete, learn from each other, and receive quality coaching without getting lost in a large group.
The Grove Approach
At The Grove, we understand the pressure that comes with playing goalkeeper.
This position takes courage. It takes patience. It takes resilience.
Our job is to help young goalkeepers build the tools they need while creating an environment where they feel supported, challenged, and proud to play the position.
Because goalkeepers do not just need more reps. They need the right reps, the right coaching, and the right confidence.
